Olive Oil Beauty Tips

By Anna Goldstein

Simply put- it's pure. So pure, it's often called extra virgin.

If you've never used olive oil on your skin, let it touch you for the first time and give you that summer glow.

Break open your cupboard and use some natural olive oil to repair your dry skin, damaged hair and more.

Olive oil is the only oil made from a fruit. It's not only good for your heart, but also great to apply on your body. Holistic Healer, Stephanie Moore gives these olive oil beauty tips:

"Cuticles and nails: If your cuticles are ragged and your nails are brittle, soak your nails in a cup of olive oil.

Feet: Before you go to bed, smear olive oil on your feet, put on socks, and you'll wake up in the morning with the softest feet ever.

Lips: Soothe your dry, chapped lips, by dabbing on a little olive oil.

Hair: Massage olive oil on your scalp and hair. Cover your hair with a shower or bathing cap and leave on for about 30 minutes. Shampoo. Olive oil helps repair split ends, heals dandruff, and makes your hair silky, and lustrous. Put a few drops on your hair when it's dry to eliminate the frizz.

Skin: Rub olive oil on your hands to soften and moisturize. It's rich in squalene, a natural organic compound and emollient that penetrates the skin, and won't leave a greasy film on it.

Bath: Add a few tablespoons of olive oil to your bath to soothe your skin.

Makeup remover: Use a little olive oil on a Q-tip to take your makeup off. It's as good as any drugstore brand."

Look for olive oil in lip balms, shampoo, hand lotion and soaps - and always use the purest extra virgin olive oil, which is the least processed, and gets its oil from the first pressing of olives.

Use extra virgin olive oil not only internally for your inner health, but externally for your outer beauty as well.

Now's the time to stop being an (olive oil) virgin.

Getting rid of that rotten and foul odors on your hair

By Tafiola
This may sound weird and messy, but believe me, tomatoes are great to get rid of rotten or foul odors for your hair. Each one of us must have experienced the frustration on getting rid the foul odor even after a lot of shampooing. One way to neutralize the odor is to apply undiluted tomato juice or paste on the hair and let it soak for 10-15 minutes. Wash it off and your hair should be odor free and dandruff free. They are also great to treat chlorine damage.

Home Remedies to get rid of body odor

By Tafiola

Using antiperspirant or deodorant to get rid of a strong body odor sometimes only works for the first couple hours. But when you have to be out there all day long without having a chance to shower or even time to reapply your deodorant, it is crucial to use a really effective deodorant that will last all day. However, I have tried on almost every product out there and nothing seem to work that long. Not that I have a really strong body odor, but it annoys me when I do smell bad when the deodorant wore off. Well, enough about me. If you have the same problem, you can stop worrying now. I have a solution that I have proven it myself. You might heard it before, but baking soda really does help to eliminate odor, including body odor. After taking a shower, when your skin is still damp, put a tablespoon of baking soda on your palm and rub it to your damp underarm. The best thing is, it will last for a day or maybe two!

How To Get Rid Of Boils

by Emma Drosy

What are boils? A boil is an infected hair follicle; boils are grown deep into the skin’s layers. They can be found on the face, neck, breasts, butt, and even at times your genital area. Boils are very painful. When you get a boil the pain can make your life miserable. It becomes very hard to concentrate on anything else besides the pain, it is extremely painful to have anything touch the boil - especially the clothes that you wear. Getting dressed is even a challenge. Usually with treatment a boil can be cured in up to 5 or ten days.

What causes a boil? Boils are usually caused by bacteria. There are times that the boil may break open and cause the bacteria to spread to any nearby skin and then that can cause new boils to form. A painful red bump will appear and is filled with puss the boil can usually become very painful within a 24 hour period. Some people think that you get boils due to poor hygienic habits but this is not the case sure it can happen because of this but it is rarely the case. Usually boils are caused by stress, illness, allergies, poor eating habits.

Treatment for a boil. There are often times when a boil will go away on its own without any treatment at all. But there are times when your doctor will need to open up the boil to let the pus drain out. He may also need to treat the boil with antibiotics to keep it from becoming more infected and start to spread to other parts of your skin. During this time you must keep your skin clean. Warm soaks will help and will also help to relive any pain that you may have. A heating pad will also help to relive pain, do not pick at the boil at all for it could become worse. You need to call your doctor right away if you get a high fever, chills, or flu like symptoms, or is the boils start to spread to other parts of your body.

  • Mash 8 whole strawberries and mix them with 3 tablespoons of honey. Apply the mixture to your face and leave it on for 10 minutes. Rinse with cold water. Do not forget to test it first to your skin behind the ear to see if your skin is allergic to the mixture.
  • Dissolve a teaspoon of baking yeast in a small amount of warm milk, wait until foamy, then apply it to your face.
  • Mash up a small amount of papaya for your own fruit acid mask. Smear it on your skin, leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes, then rinse.
  • Mix green clay powder with water or honey and apply it to your face. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then rinse.
  • Beat egg whites until frothy and apply it to your face. Leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse well. You could also mix the egg whites with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.

Homemade Hair Spray recipe

By Tafiola

Yes, it may sounds a little weird but you can make your own hair spray at home. The hair sprays will be chemical free and healthy for your hair since they don't contain any preservatives. Here's how:

  • Chop one lemon (or an orange for dry hair). Place in a pot with 2 cups water. Boil until half of the initial amount remains. Cool, strain, and place in a spray bottle. Store in the refrigerator. If it is too sticky, add more water. Add one ounce rubbing alcohol as a preservative (optional) and then the spray can be stored for up to two weeks unrefrigerated.
